We are welcoming fall with open arms here in the Dill household, but I will really miss these sun-drenched, warm evening moments outdoors. If they must traded for sweatshirts, pumpkin soup, apple picking, and cuddling under my mom's quilt at night, then so be it!

Finnian's locks have gotten, ummm, a bit wild. Mommy has been reluctant to cut his cherished little curls, while daddy has been longing to give him a buzz cut for months. Mommy bent today, although she did compromise :)
Triumph! I actually, honestly, cross my heart and hope to die snapped at least one photo each day throughout all of 2010. No cheating. Admittedly there were times where I didn’t actually get to upload the photo when I was plain old tired/lazy didn’t have a reliable internet connection, but I did take the photo to save in queue.
At times I was uninspired, snapping photos on my iPhone at the end of the day (example). Also, once when I was really under the weather I picked up my camera, snapped the shutter release without paying attention to my camera settings (in this case, a very slow shutter speed… somewhere on the order of a minute)… which resulted in this photo.
I will gladly sadly not be continuing the Photo a Day into 2011, but will definitely keep shooting in an attempt to improve my photography prowess.

We enjoyed Columbus Day weekend at good ole' Round Pond with friends and babies. The weather was fantastic-- cool and crisp, which encouraged lots of time fireside with good food and conversation. Can't wait to go back next year.
Our baby is not really a baby anymore.
It was a gorgeous day so we visited Minard Farms in Clintondale this morning to get some apples and cider, then drove down the road and picked up a pumpkin at a pumpkin patch. When we got home Finnian had a pumpkin cupcake for his birthday—and ate nearly the entire thing—before having his lunch. Then he opened his gifts. He wasn’t really into the tearing of the wrapping paper, and needed a bit of help from Denver and me. He did, however, want to push all of the wrapped gifts across the floor!
Finnian has mastered walking over the last month—amazing how quickly he went from crawling to walking on his own. Today, he hoisted himself onto his toy truck for the first time. He then proceeded to get on and off of it by himself several times before daddy came over and pushed him across the floor. Squeals of delight from his small body resulted.
At one year, Finnian:
× probably weighs 20 pounds—we go in for his 1-year appointment on Thursday. He had a cold this past week and had an impromptu trip to the doctor; was 20.5 lbs in his clothes and diaper.
× has made the transition to cow milk in a sippy cup. I starting mixing his milk last Saturday, and took a week to get to get up to plain cow milk. No issues whatsoever.
× waves “bye bye” to our condo whenever we leave. Also says it.
× in addition to last month’s words, says “bottle”, “water”, “kitty”, “night-night”, and probably several others I just can’t think of right now.
× makes the “mmmm!!!” sound and walks over to his highchair when he wants to eat. He also does the sign for “eat” (yay!)
× got 4 new teeth this month—all on top! He does not have the top 2 front teeth yet, though.
× is the apple of mommy and daddy’s eye (errr, eyes?) We love our little man and look forward to the adventures the next year will bring!
